Precision machining in York since 1972.

Billet started as a one man tool and die shop in a small garage. Today it machines close tolerance parts for aerospace, defense and industrial customers as part of Flinchbaugh Engineering, and every person on the team is an owner.

Started by a toolmaker.

Keith Billet finished a tool and die apprenticeship, was drafted and served in the US Army in Vietnam, then earned a business degree on the GI Bill. In June 1972 he put both to work, opening Billet Tool in a small garage in Mount Wolf with a $10,000 family loan. His son Troy joined in 1989 after serving in the US Navy.

Over five decades the shop grew from tooling into close tolerance contract machining for OEMs and first tier suppliers, from prototype through production. In January 2024 Billet joined Flinchbaugh Engineering as a wholly owned subsidiary. It kept its name and its team, and every employee became an owner through the company’s ESOP.

“I’m blessed to be in a position as a second generation owner to sell my business to a local and highly respected company. I know the Billet name and my employees are in good hands, and I’m excited to see how the merger of our two businesses can grow and create value for our customers.”

Photo brief

Archive photo of the original Billet Tool shop, or Keith or Troy at the bench, if the family has one. Fallback: a current machinist on the Campbell Road floor, natural light, part in frame. Portrait crop, subject centered.

Fifty years, measured.

Three shops, one merger, a handover from father to son and a new parent. The work on the floor has stayed the same kind of work throughout.

Why buyers choose Billet.

Schedules that flex

Long production runs, rush jobs and expedited delivery all go through the same standardized process. We agree the deadline with you up front and keep you posted until the parts ship.

Current technology

Parts are drafted in SolidWorks and programmed in Mastercam. Certified quality staff measure them with PC DMIS software on our stationary CMM and portable ROMER arm. We keep investing as the technology moves.

Defect free by process

Every job follows our AS9100 quality system, a complete and systematic approach that runs from the first quote to the last shipment. The goal is parts that arrive right and on time.

What we hold to.

To be a leading provider of precision machining and contract manufacturing for critical applications.
